The biggest and most central city on the eastside, Bellevue is the “Uptown” to Seattle’s downtown. Bellevue is french for “beautiful view” and it is completely deserving of the name. This lovely city set at the eastern shore of Lake Washington features gorgeous views of the lake and an extensive trail and park system. Bellevue is also well known for is its high end shopping.
Location: located directly east of Seattle across Lake Washington, bordered on the west by Lake Sammamish, intersected by I-90 and Hwy 520 travelling east and west and I-405 travelling north and south
Companies located here: It is home to many corporations and businesses including Expedia, Eddie Bauer, T-Mobile, Verizon, Bungie Games, Paccar, and more.
Schools: Bellevue School District, Bellevue College
Key points of interest include the Bellevue Botanical gardens, the Bellevue Arts Museum, Bellevue Square, Lincoln Center, and the KidsQuest Children’s Museum.
Bottom line: Bellevue is not a suburb of Seattle. It is a city in its own right. A very expensive and beautiful city.
